Our aim - to produce elegant show ponies with beauty, presence and exceptional movement and most importantly a sensible temperament.

The Linden Riding Pony Stud is situated in the picturesque Bombay Hills approximately 35 kilometres south of Auckland city. The stud was first established in 1972 with the purchase of the riding pony colt Riverflats Bay Wings (Riverflats Desert Wings x Airflow). Bay Wings proved himself to be a very versatile stallion siring many champion show ponies with many of his offspring also proving themselves as very successful jumping ponies.

In 1977 a trip to the Cusop Stud in Herefordshire, England led to the purchase of the superb yearling riding pony colt Cusop Display (Cusop Signpost x Cusop Destiny). Display's influence on New Zealand's ponies was profound and long lasting with several of his sons carrying on this influence for many years after his death. Both Display's sire and dam were sired by the great Bwlch Valentino which showed through in Display's tremendous prepotency. All of his progeny were, without exception, grey like himself and showed that unmistakable ethereal Valentino quality. A great stallion and a true gentleman he is forever in our memories.

In 1987 the stud was disbanded to pursue other equestrian interests and for quite some time we became the home of our daughter’s numerous thoroughbred eventers – a big change from the pony days!

By 2009 we decided it was time to re-establish the Linden Stud in partnership with our daughter Airlie Holley and after a painstaking search purchased from the Kolbeach Stud in Australia the beautiful young colt Kolbeach Holly’s Masterpiece – see Stallion Section.

This was followed by the purchase of four riding pony mares from Australia and our stud was back in action again. All the ponies we have obtained have very strong English bloodlines tracing back to those lovely and highly influential founders of the English Riding Pony.
